Our brief was to design the Missoni Home Flagship store within an existing wine & tapas bar at 5-8 Bulletin Pl, The Rocks. Given the current trend to shop online, our brief was to be inventive in our design, so to encourage the consumers back to the bricks and mortar experience.
To me, this meant working with the details of how the consumer relates to the product. Throughout my scheme I created numerous interactive display units, that provide the customer with the independent experience. Through the use of technology these displays are further enhanced allowing the customer to gain product information at their own pace.
As the company sells products for the home, my scheme began to look at the history of the site given to us for this project. Sitting ontop of the Sydney Tank Stream, my final iteration made the connection between movement of water and the movement that is suggested within the iconic chevron missoni knit. This was translated within the scheme as the space became defined by moments of supression and contrasting moments of expansion.
Throughout the space, the consumer would notice moments where the walls have been slightly pulled back to show a lining of a missoni print - suggesting that the building is knitted together with Missoni as its structure.
